"There's only one side on the battlefield, and it isn't us," says Frank Cilluffo, director of George Washington University's Homeland Security Policy Institute, who will testify Thursday on the Internet-Facilitated Radicalization report in the Senate. "We've created this global village — the Internet — without a police department."
That is exactly what it is... The last frontier where we can say what we want and how we want without people going apeshit about things.
The internet is the last bastion of freedom for millions of people. It is much better to have an outlet where we can exchange ideas on a global scale without worrying about our governments censoring what we want to say. Yes it is a global village. Yes it has it's boogie men. But, it also has been the greatest boon to mankind. We now have a medium that we can talk to our fellow occupants of this planet without having to wait to be published or for snail-mail to creep along and give us the latest news from our pen-pal in Sweden.
The focus of the government on a small use of this medium is silly, it's just another way for Big Brother to poke his nose in where it doesn't belong. We have our freedoms on the net, don't take them away. It's bad enough we have DRM, MicroSoft, and other stupid groups out there trying to control our lives, we don't need the government to jump in and destroy this beautiful creation.
Okay, before I start to ramble, I best be out of here.
Preserve Our Peace!!!!!!!
