Free Broadband?

I admit, I'm a lil slow on the uptake at times, but what is this tripe I hear about a free broadband service for all being proposed by of all people, the FCC? It seems one of the major hangups for getting this idea off the ground has been wither or not to have a smut filter. Apparently, now with that out of the way, they might be going through with this. Remember, this will be a free service, so don't expect blazing high speeds. When the chunk of the Wireless Services 3 is auctioned of, the license winner would be required to offer the service at a minimum 768Kpbs. And of course ti is going to take some time for the service to reach the total nation, but what will this do for those of us who are already subscribing to an ISP? Who knows, but I wanna know the impact; will it drive our prices down or have no affect at all? The minimum speed would be okay for surfing but forget gaming. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.
